Giving Little Hearts a Chance to Beat Stronger

Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) can profoundly affect a child’s health and development, but for many families from economically disadvantaged communities, the cost of diagnosis and treatment can make lifesaving cardiac care difficult to access.

Little Heartlings, an initiative of Artemis Health Sciences Foundation, is committed to bridging this gap by supporting children with congenital heart disease and helping them access timely, quality cardiac care.

Through the programme, Artemis Health Sciences Foundation supports eligible children from underserved communities with early identification, medical evaluation, financial assistance for cardiac procedures and post-operative care. In partnership with our health partner Artemis Hospitals which has a specialized Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Pediatric Cardiology that consists of five interlinked departments which is Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care, Pediatric Cardiac Anaesthesia and Pediatric Perfusion that work together to provide the best possible care.

Beneficiary Stories

Sadhna Kumari, 11
From a Life-Changing Diagnosis to a New Beginning

At just 11 years of age, Sadhna Kumari, from Gazipur Village in Delhi, was living with a serious congenital heart condition that required timely surgical intervention.

Sadhna’s father works as a driver, and the cost of specialised cardiac treatment was far beyond what the family could afford. With limited financial resources, the possibility of getting the treatment Sadhna needed seemed like an overwhelming challenge.

Hope came when the family learned about Little Heartlings, an initiative of Artemis Health Sciences Foundation that supports underprivileged children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease. The family approached the Foundation seeking assistance for Sadhna’s treatment.

Following a detailed cardiac evaluation, Sadhna was diagnosed with Small Perimembranous VSD partially restricted by RCC prolapse with left-to-right shunt, moderate Aortic Regurgitation (AR) and severe Tricuspid Regurgitation (TR). She was advised open-heart surgery, including VSD Closure, Aortic Valve Repair and Tricuspid Valve Repair, to help her lead a healthier and more normal life.

Sadhna underwent the surgery successfully at Artemis Hospitals, Gurugram, the medical partner supporting the Little Heartlings programme. Artemis Health Sciences Foundation covered the complete cost of her treatment, ensuring that financial constraints did not prevent her from receiving the life-saving care she needed.

Sadhna’s heart received a second chance and with it, the promise of a healthier and brighter future.

Tammanna Parvin, 8 Months
From Breathlessness to a New Beginning

At just eight months old, little Tammanna Parvin had already been facing a difficult beginning to life. Belonging to a family originally from Cooch Behar, West Bengal, Tammanna’s father works as a housekeeping assistant at a private office in Gurugram.

Since birth, Tammanna had been experiencing difficulty in breathing, leaving her family deeply concerned about her health and future. With limited financial resources, accessing specialised cardiac treatment was a major challenge for the family.

When the family approached Artemis Health Sciences Foundation through the Little Heartlings programme, Tammanna underwent detailed cardiac evaluation and was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart condition.

Her diagnosis included Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), hypoplastic Left Ventricle and Mitral Valve, a large non-restrictive perimembranous VSD, severe subvalvar and valvar pulmonary stenosis, an aorta positioned anterior to the pulmonary artery, confluent bilateral pulmonary arteries and a small PDA.

Given the complexity of her condition, Tammanna required a Bidirectional Glenn procedure along with Atrial Septectomy as part of her cardiac treatment.

Recognising the family’s financial constraints, Artemis Health Sciences Foundation covered the expenses of her surgery and diagnostic investigations, ensuring that financial hardship did not stand between this little child and the treatment she urgently needed.

Our Impact

Each surgery represents more than a medical intervention—it represents a child given a second chance, a family given hope and a future that can be lived to its fullest potential.
